Crown Prince of Dubai becomes UAE Defense Minister

Crown Prince of the Emirate of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has been appointed Minister of Defense of the United Arab Emirates. This was announced by the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

A statement posted on the Dubai Ruler's official X page (formerly known as Twitter) said: "Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has joined the UAE government as Deputy Prime Minister of the country and has been appointed Minister of Defense."

These changes in government took place in the context of a broad reshuffling of key officials aimed at strengthening and modernizing various areas of government activity. UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan was also appointed Deputy Prime Minister of the country, underscoring his significant role in the UAE's international affairs and politics.

The Ruler of Dubai also announced a reshuffle in the UAE Council for Education, Human Resources and Community Development. The Ministry of Community Development, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization will now operate under the auspices of the Council. This Council will oversee all levels of education in the country, allowing for a more integrated and strategic approach to human resource development and the educational system.

The portfolio of the Minister of Education was given to the Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology Sarah bint Yusuf al-Amiri. In turn, the Minister of Education, Ahmed al-Falasi, was appointed Minister of Sports. This appointment reflects the government's efforts to promote healthy lifestyles and sports as an important element of social development.

Minister of Human Resources and Emiratization Abdel Rahman Al Awar was also appointed as acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. This appointment aims to strengthen the role of higher education and research in the national development strategy.
